The Russian River Valley abounds with charming small towns and gently rolling hills covered with vineyards, apple trees and native oaks. The roadways tend to be two-lane, the kind you like to linger on, intrigued by what might be around the next corner. Wineries pepper the area; some are open daily and some by appointment, so check our wineries listing to see if you need to call ahead.

We have five suggested driving tours listed to the left — each encompassing several wineries — allowing you to make the most of your time. We hope they help you enjoy your stay here in our special part of the world.

On River Road, 7.2 miles west of Highway 101, turn north on Wohler Road, crossing the old Wohler Bridge over the Russian River. Turn left on Westside Road to find Gary Farrell Winery and Moshin Vineyard. For more wineries, turn back toward Wohler Road, and continue north up Westside Road toward Healdsburg. You will soon come to Porter Creek, Arista, Hop Kiln, C. Donatiello, Matrix and Twomey.
